2011 Holiday Express Golf Classic
Raises $70,000
Proceeds from this event benefit the Scholarship Awards and other Holiday Express programs. Holiday Express has awarded more than $400,000 to 35 students in the communities we serve.
Holiday Express thanks all for supporting our 9th Golf Classic, one of the premier golf events on the Jersey Shore. Again we returned to the beautiful Manasquan River Golf Club in Brielle, New Jersey. From the rolling hills on the front nine, to the fresh breezes that roll off of the Manasquan River on the back nine, MRGC is widely known to be one of the most difficult and beautiful challenges to golfers of all skill levels.
On a hot day, 111 men and 14 women took part in the morning and afternoon tee times. The tee gift for the men was a greystone colored printed plaid long sleeve wind shirt and the ladies received a white performance pull over.
As players made their way around the course, they were greeted with special treats. At the halfway house, CJ Montana's restaurant, Tinton Falls, provided a delicious cold shrimp appetizer that received rave reviews. After the shrimp and an attempt at winning a car provided by Coast Honda with a hole in one on #6, players enjoyed a cold Corona courtesy of Shore Point Distributors. On hole # 3 a refreshing Coors Lite, also donated by Shore Point Distributors, provided the incentive for a bounty of prizes if someone made a hole in one. Offerings – a new 2011 Forrester from World Jeep Subaru, a Vic Gerard personal golf car and a 32” Panasonic LCD TV – were all ready to go home with a lucky participant, but alas, no one had the good fortune that day.
At the 12th tee box, with views of the river beyond the green, ice cream sandwiches provided by Avis, were a chilled “pick-me-up” before the golfers swung hard for the longest drive prize on #13. As the golfers sized up the distance at the #15 hole and planned their Pebble Beach vacation courtesy of Two River Community Bank if they made a hole in one, they enjoyed a frosty summer brew courtesy of Basil T's in Red Bank.
The Grinch (thanks Tony Cosentino for enduring the 100+degree heat) and Santa (in his sporty summer suit) were sighted on the course offering golf tips and signing autographs. After a memorable experience on one of the best 18 holes in New Jersey, a wonderful reception was held with music, sumptuous food, great auction items and prizes.
